Tristam lost balance for a little bit, getting some feathers in his mouth even.
"What's up?" he asked, looking around as he tried to see what had our her on edge. He then noticed Toby as he opened the door, eyes going wide when he saw the girl.
Immediately going in front of Freya, Tristam out his hood up, effectively hiding his ears.
"Relax," he whispered to Freya as he passed her. "Don't hurt yourself please."
As he blocked Freya, Tristam eyed Toby, agreeing with Freya that they needed to move. The sun was already setting, and they should've been gone by now.
Toby sighed, his anger getting sparked.
"I'll try," he whispered back, hiding his face behind the door. "Just.. give me a minute."
"Hey, mister," the girl began, looking down at her dog when it stood up and went to alert, letting out a low growl as it caught the familiar scents. "My dog here, Moon, is kinda hurt. She's bleeding slightly on the neck, and I wanted to know if you could maybe give me a bandage. Just one, mister. Please?"
Toby eyed the girl, his curiosity getting sparked.
"Do you live around here?" he asked.
The girl froze for a slight moment, then relaxed, her hand going down to Moon as she made an attempt to enter the house.
"No," she replied quietly.
"Where are your parents then?"
The girl purses her lips, holding Moon steady.
"Stay," she said to her dog. "Well.. they're kinda away right now, so.. I'm on my own or a few."
"Hmm," Toby said suspiciously. "I guess I'll give you some." Turning around, Toby wwnt and got some bandages and brought them back, handing them to the girl so she could use them.
"Thanks," she said, wrapping her dog right there. "I really appreciate it."
"Yup," Toby said, about to close the door.
"Wait, wait," interjected the girl, sticking her foot in the door.
"Yes?" Toby asked, getting impatient himself.
"You seem like a nice guy, and you look like you wouldn't lie. I have a question. Did a Raven riding on a Wolf pass through here? I know it sounds odd, but, Moon here tracked them, and we got all the way to here, then it suddenly stops. She lost the trail, and we've been circling your house without the slightest trace of a scent trail," she said, looking at him with serious eyes.
Toby almost laughed.
"A Raven riding on a Wolf, huh?" he asked. "I don't know about th.."
"Can I come in?" she interrupted suddenly.
Toby went silent, staring hard at the girl, but didn't answer.
"That rude, you know," she said. "You usually welcome someone in your home, especially a little girl who's cold and doesn't even have real clothes to wear. And whose Best Friend is hurt. Besides, I know you know where the Raven and the Wolf are."
Toby stared even harder at the girl, his eyes threatening to narrow.
"Good night," he said, closing the door. It was extremely uncalled for, but, that was all he could do.
Except that the nine-year-old jumped through just in time, along with Moon.
"I gotcha!" she cried, pointing to Freya and Tristam, a massive smile on her face. Moon barked once in confirmation, eyeing the pair.
